The Centre for Health Protection today said it is investigating seven additional COVID-19 cases, taking the number of confirmed cases in Hong Kong to 4,857.

All the new cases are locally transmitted, of which four are related to previous ones and the remaining three are those with unknown sources of infection.

The centre’s Communicable Disease Branch Head Dr Chuang Shuk-kwan said at a press briefing this afternoon that among the cases with unknown sources of infection, two were detected through the Universal Community Testing Programme – a 60-year-old man and a foreign domestic helper.

Additionally, the Hospital Authority reported that 236 confirmed COVID-19 patients are currently hospitalised and 4,493 confirmed and suspected patients have been discharged.
