Tseung Kwan O Hospital today announced that Tseung Kwan O (Po Ning Road) General Out-patient Clinic lost a deep throat saliva specimen collection box located outside the clinic this afternoon.

Upon notification of the incident, the clinic’s staff immediately searched the vicinity of the clinic and checked CCTV footage, which revealed that the collection box was taken away by an old man at around 1pm.

The staff reported the incident to Police for assistance and called an old man who left the clinic after taking medicine from its pharmacy at around the time the box went missing.

The man admitted that he took the box and abandoned it at Hau Tak Estate car park.

Police found the box at the car park and returned it to the clinic.

The clinic will call the people whose specimens were found in the box for the resubmission of their deep throat saliva specimens.

It also called on members of the public who submitted specimen packs at the clinic today to call 2191 1083 for the arrangement.

Noting that the specimen packs contain personal information, the clinic would report the incident to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner for Personal Data.

The clinic will review the security measures of handling the specimen collection box and apologised to the public for the inconvenience caused.
