As at 6pm today, more than 420,000 people have successfully registered for the Universal Community Testing Programme that will begin on September 1, the Government announced.
Since the online booking system commenced operation yesterday, 80 community testing centres have been fully booked for the testing service on September 1, accounting for more than half of the 141 community testing centres set for operating the programme.
For the period between September 1 and 7, five community testing centres have been fully booked. They are at Ma On Shan Sports Centre and the community halls of Sau Mau Ping, Yau Tong, Sheung Tak and Sha Kok.
As places are still available at other community testing centres, members of the public may consider signing up at them if their first choice is fully booked.
Noting that no target has been set on the number of participants in the programme, the Government said it will closely monitor the operation and booking situation to consider whether to extend the programme for not more than seven days.
