The Transport Department announced today that applications for the second tranche of the wage subsidy scheme for green minibus and local ferry operators under the second round of the Anti-epidemic Fund have opened.
The Government will provide subsidies for ferry operators who hired employee aged 65 or above but have not applied for the second tranche of the wage subsidy of the Employment Support Scheme.
According to the Wage Subsidy Scheme, the Government will provide a $6,000 monthly subsidy to the operators in respect of hiring each eligible employee for a period of six months from June to November for the purpose of supporting the operators on salary payments.
The department has started issuing letters and application forms to the operators.
The subsidy will be disbursed by autopay in about two to three weeks upon completion of the verification process by the department to support the operators for payment of wages from September to November.
The application deadline is October 7.
